Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the “Modi Pongal” celebrations in Tiruchirappalli on Monday, with over 2,000 participants joining the festivities.

Shah’s two-day visit to Tamil Nadu also includes political engagements in the run-up to the 2026 Assembly elections. On Sunday, he met senior BJP leaders, including party election in-charge Piyush Goyal and state president Nainar Nagenthran, reviewing organisational preparedness and strategies. During his visit, Shah interacted with local communities, reinforcing the National Democratic Alliance’s outreach while blending cultural, religious, and political engagements.
