The Chennai Book Fair 2026, one of the city’s most popular annual literary events, is set to begin on January 8, bringing together hundreds of publishers, authors and book lovers from across Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country.
According to the organisers, entry to the book fair will be completely free until January 8, enabling readers of all age groups to explore the fair without any entry fee. From January 9 onwards, visitors will be required to pay a minimum entry charge.
The fair will feature a wide range of Tamil and English books, including literature, academic publications, children’s books, competitive examination guides and reference materials. Several publishers are also offering special discounts to attract readers.
The book fair will be open daily, with extended timings on select days to accommodate students and working professionals. On certain days, the fair will remain open from 11 am to 9 pm. Organisers have made special arrangements for crowd management, parking and visitor safety, anticipating large footfalls during the opening days.
