The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT‑Madras) has announced that Saarang 2026, the institute’s flagship cultural festival, will kick off on January 8. The annual event, known for its vibrant mix of music, dance, art, literature and competitive events, is expected to draw thousands of students and visitors from across the country.Saarang, which has been organised by IIT‑Madras students for decades, offers a rich programme that includes performances by renowned artists, workshops, quizzes, informal contests and cultural showcases. The festival provides a platform for young talents to present their skills in front of large audiences and industry professionals.
Organisers said safety, crowd management and accessibility arrangements have been finalised to ensure a smooth experience for participants and attendees throughout the five‑day celebration. Saarang is also expected to boost the city’s cultural calendar in early 2026 with its mix of entertainment and intellectual activities.
The event will be held on the IIT‑Madras campus, and students from colleges across India are gearing up to take part in the competitions and events scheduled throughout the festival.
