Amid ongoing political manoeuvring ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss has issued a strong statement disputing the legitimacy of recent alliance talks involving his son and party leader Anbumani Ramadoss with AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami.Ramadoss asserted that any negotiations conducted by Anbumani or any other individual on behalf of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) with other political parties would be illegal unless done by the official party president. According to the statement, party rules clearly state that only the authorised leader has the legal right to negotiate and finalise electoral alliances.
The controversy stems from recent developments in which Anbumani met with AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, and both leaders announced a prospective alliance for the upcoming polls.
