The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) is all set to host its much-anticipated Makkal Urimai Meetppu Maanadu tomorrow, signalling a renewed thrust in the run-up to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The event, widely viewed as Makkal Urimai Meetpu Conference 2.0, is expected to bring together party leaders, workers and supporters to deliberate on the party’s strategy and political positioning ahead of the polls.
The conference will be led by Premalatha Vijayakanth, general secretary of the DMDK, who has been steering the party’s organisational activities since taking on the leadership mantle. The meeting is being held in Cuddalore district, where party officials are making final arrangements for the large gathering of cadres expected to attend from across Tamil Nadu.
Premalatha Vijayakanth has been actively touring the venue site to inspect security, seating and facilities, signalling the importance her party leadership attaches to the event.
Makkal Urimai Meetppu Maanadu is expected to serve as a platform for the DMDK to articulate its vision for people’s rights and political alliances, especially at a time when several major parties are consolidating ahead of the elections.
The conference also comes amid ongoing speculation about DMDK’s future alliances, with the party maintaining that alliance decisions will be finalised based on collective deliberations among leaders.
Observers say the event could offer clues on DMDK’s political direction and alliance preferences in the months leading up to the polls.
