The period political drama Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, has officially crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the worldwide box office, the film’s makers announced on Tuesday, marking a major commercial milestone for the Tamil star’s 25th outing.Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi was released in theatres on January 10, ahead of the Pongal festival, and has steadily drawn audiences across India and overseas. The film’s global earnings have now surpassed ₹100 crore, according to production house Dawn Pictures, which celebrated the achievement with a social media post stating: “A roar heard across the world — #Parasakthi storms past the ₹100 CRORE mark worldwide.”
The historical drama follows the story of Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan) and his involvement in the anti-Hindi imposition agitations of 1960s Tamil Nadu. Alongside Sivakarthikeyan, the film also features Sreeleela, Ravi Mohan, and Atharvaa in significant roles, with cameo appearances by Basil Joseph, Rana Daggubati and Dhananjaya.
Parasakthi marks a key collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara, known for her acclaimed directorial work. Composer G.V. Prakash Kumar, whose 100th film score is featured in Parasakthi, and the ensemble cast have been credited with elevating the film’s cinematic experience.
The film’s journey to ₹100 crore worldwide comes amid a competitive Pongal release window and mixed critical responses — yet strong enough box office traction to secure its place among the year’s noteworthy commercial performers in Tamil cinema.
