Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran has said that he and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami have put past disagreements behind them and are now working together like brothers for the political future of Tamil Nadu. The remark comes amid a renewed alliance between AMMK and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as parties rally ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Addressing a public meeting in Maduranthakam alongside Palaniswami and other NDA leaders, Dhinakaran stated that previous family and party differences have been forgotten and that they have reunited for the larger goal of bringing their political ideas into action. “**We have set aside our issues and unified,” he said, adding that like elder and younger brothers, he and Palaniswami would work closely. He also emphasised their shared commitment to bringing back Amma’s (J. Jayalalithaa’s) style of governance to Tamil Nadu.
The reconciliation highlights a major political realignment in Tamil Nadu, where Dhinakaran’s AMMK, after previously breaking away from the AIADMK, has now formally rejoined the NDA fold. Both leaders framed their renewed cooperation as essential to challenging the current DMK government and ending what they describe as dynastic and ineffective rule. Dhinakaran’s comments reflect strategic unity within the opposition camp as the election season intensifies.
