Gold prices in Chennai continued their upward trend today, marking fresh increases in the local bullion market.
Investors and buyers have been closely tracking daily price swings as the precious metal maintains high demand.
According to the latest figures, 22-carat ornamental gold is being sold at around ₹14,620 per gram, while a sovereign (8 grams) of 22-carat gold is trading at approximately ₹1,16,960. Both these rates reflect an increase compared with recent days, as gold prices continue to stay elevated.
The rise has been noticeable over the past week, with gold prices showing volatility—sometimes climbing sharply then pulling back slightly—but overall trending upwards compared to earlier in the month. Over the last 10 days alone, gold rates have recorded a significant cumulative increase.
Silver prices have also moved higher, with the metal selling at about ₹355 per gram, and bar silver at around ₹3,55,000 per kilogram—both showing gains from previous sessions.
Market analysts attribute the continued firming of gold prices to strong domestic demand and ongoing global economic factors that support precious metals as safe-haven assets.
Buyers and investors are advised to check with local jewellers for the latest updated rates before making any purchases, as gold prices can fluctuate daily.
