Actor R. Madhavan has described receiving the Padma Shri — one of India’s highest civilian honours — as “beyond my wildest dreams,” after the Padma Awards 2026 were announced on the eve of Republic Day.
Taking to social media after the announcement, Madhavan expressed profound gratitude and humility, dedicating the honour to his family, mentors, well‑wishers and the audience whose support has been crucial throughout his career. He said the award was possible “only because of the blessings of my mentors, the goodwill of my well‑wishers, the love and encouragement of the public, and above all, the grace of the Almighty.”
Madhavan further underlined that the Padma Shri was “not just an award but a responsibility.” He promised to carry the honour forward “with dignity, sincerity and a deep sense of commitment to the values it represents,” and said he hopes to continue serving with integrity, humility and dedication in the years to come.
The actor, celebrated for his work across Tamil, Hindi and other Indian film industries, recently received critical acclaim for his role in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, drawing widespread congratulations from colleagues and fans following the Padma Shri announcement.
