Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami, and leaders of various political parties on Sunday congratulated the Padma award winners chosen from Tamil Nadu in different categories.
In a social media post, Stalin extended his hearty congratulations to all the awardees and wished them continued success in their respective fields. He said the recognition bestowed by the Centre would further motivate them to serve the public and society with greater commitment. He also conveyed special greetings to his close friend and legendary Davis Cup player Vijay Amritraj, who has been selected for the Padma Bhushan, and to actors R. Madhavan and Mammootty, who have been honoured with the Padma Shri.
Stalin listed the names of the awardees from the State, including Padma Bhushan recipients Kallipatti Ramasamy Palanisamy and S.K. Mayilanandhan, and Padma Shri awardees former AIADMK Minister Dr H.V. Hande, noted writer Sivashankari, singer duo Gayatri Balasubramanian and Ranjani Balasubramanian, K. Ramasamy, former IPS officer K. Vijayakumar, Oduvar Thiruthani Swaminathan, Punniyamoorthy Natesan, sculptor Rajastapathi Kaliappa Gounder, Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam, and V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT-Madras.
In a separate statement, Palaniswami also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the eminent personalities from Tamil Nadu who have been conferred the prestigious Padma Awards for 2026. He said it was a matter of great pride and happiness that social worker S.K.M. Mayilanandhan and distinguished medical professional Dr Kallipatti Ramasamy Palanisamy had been honoured with the Padma Bhushan for their exemplary service to society.
Expressing happiness over the Padma Shri awards conferred on several outstanding individuals from the State, Palaniswami said they had excelled in diverse fields such as public service, medicine, science, education, literature, music, arts, spirituality and administration. He described the Padma Awards as a fitting recognition of lifelong dedication, service and excellence.
Palaniswami said such honours inspire future generations to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the progress of society and the nation. “Tamil Nadu has always been a land that nurtures talent, values knowledge and upholds service to society, and these honours once again reaffirm that proud legacy,” he said.
“On behalf of the AIADMK and the people of Tamil Nadu, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the award recipients and place on record my sincere appreciation to the Central Government for recognising and honouring outstanding individuals from Tamil Nadu across diverse domains,” Palaniswami added.
