DMK and its allied parties boycotted the tea party held at Raj Bhavan on Republic Day in Chennai. The event was hosted by Governor R.N. Ravi, but the parties skipped it in protest.
They protested because they felt the Governor was acting against the state government. The boycott was linked to a dispute over the Governorās behaviour and his actions in the Assembly.
Chief Minister M K Stalin, who attended the Republic Day parade at the Marina in the morning hours of Monday presented gallantry awards to winners and also shared the stage with the Governor, besides exchanging pleasantries.
Once the event was over, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and other Ministers left for Thanjavur to take part in the partyās womenās conference.
Leaders from parties like the Congress, Left parties, and VCK also stayed away from the event with the DMK. AIADMK and BJP leaders were present at the tea party.
