Tamil and Malayalam cinema fans have a new comedy movie to look forward to. The upcoming film titled Raawadi stars Basil Joseph and LK Akshay Kumar, and shooting has already started in Chennai.The movie is directed by debutant Vignesh Vadivel and is being made in both Tamil and Malayalam languages at the same time. It is described as a fun‑filled entertainer and is expected to release in summer 2026.
Basil Joseph — known for his roles and direction in Malayalam films — will play a key part alongside LK Akshay Kumar, who gained attention for his work in the Tamil film Sirai. The cast also includes Sathyan, John Vijay, Jaffer Sadiq, Noble K James, Arunachaleswaran PA, Shariq Hassan and Aishwarya Sharma.
The movie is produced by SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studios. Jen Martin is composing the music, Leon Britto is the cinematographer, and Barath Vikraman is editing the film.
Raawadi is shaping up to be a lively campus‑style comedy that brings fresh talent and entertainers together on the big screen.
