New Delhi, Jan 27: US President Donald Trump sent a warm message to India on the occasion of its 77th Republic Day, saying that the United States and India share a historic bond as the world’s oldest and largest democracies. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of India in a message shared by the US Embassy in New Delhi.
Trump’s message highlighted the longstanding ties between the two nations, emphasising their shared democratic values and cooperation on global issues. The greeting comes at a time when relations between India and the US face challenges over areas like trade and tariffs, but the message underlined the importance of keeping strong engagement.
Along with Trump, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also congratulated India, noting the depth of cooperation in defence, energy, technology and regional security. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor attended the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path and echoed the sentiment, calling the event a celebration of India’s democratic spirit and the partnership between the two countries.
Trump’s message reaffirmed the commitment to building on the India-US strategic partnership even amid diplomatic and economic discussions.
