Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to travel to Malaysia on February 7, where a major event has been organized for the Indian diaspora, especially the Tamil community. The visit comes shortly before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with BJP supporters in Malaysia mobilising to ensure significant Tamil participation at the underpinned.According to sources, Prime Minister Modi will address and interact with the large Tamil population living in Malaysia during his visit. The programme in Kuala Lumpur is being coordinated by senior BJP leaders, with special emphasis on engaging Indian-origin Tamils residing abroad.
Ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Modi used his monthly radio programme “Mann Ki Baat” to praise the Indian community in Malaysia. He highlighted the presence of over 500 Tamil schools in the country that not only teach the Tamil language but also use it as a medium for other subjects. Modi also lauded the broader Indian diaspora’s efforts in preserving cultural traditions and strengthening India–Malaysia ties.
