Three men have been remanded to judicial custody in connection with the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman inside the Government Arts and Science College at Nandanam, police and court records showed on Thursday. The incident has triggered concern over campus safety and prompted a police investigation.According to police, the victim — who worked at a canteen located within the college campus — was allegedly assaulted by several individuals at the site. Following her complaint to authorities, a case was registered at the All Women Police Station in Saidapet and multiple accused were taken into custody. The Saidapet court ordered judicial custody for three men — identified as Muthuselvam, Gunasekaran and Karthikeyan — until February 11 as investigations continue.
The assault inside the college grounds has drawn widespread public concern about student and worker safety on educational campuses. Police said the investigation is ongoing and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend additional suspects reportedly involved in the crime. Authorities also stressed that victim support measures are being provided as the case proceeds through the criminal justice process.
