Erode, Feb 9: K.A. Sengottaiyan, senior leader and Administrative Committee Chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has taken aim at both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) as the state heads into the 2026 Assembly election season. Sengottaiyan, speaking to reporters in Gobichettipalayam, asserted that TVK’s principal political opponent is the DMK, and dismissed the AIADMK as “not a party at all.”
According to his remarks, the DMK is the only real rival standing against TVK’s rise in Tamil Nadu politics, while the AIADMK — despite being part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) — holds little relevance to his party’s core mission. Sengottaiyan also claimed that thousands of people have already submitted applications to contest elections under the TVK banner, reflecting growing grassroots support for the new political outfit.
He reiterated TVK’s confidence in forging its own path in the upcoming polls, suggesting that members of other parties who fail to secure alliance spots with the DMK or AIADMK may gravitate toward TVK instead. Sengottaiyan also said he expects formal alliances involving TVK to take shape “in a short timeframe.”
