The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has announced the schedule for the TN Board Public Examinations 2026 for Classes 10 and 12. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi confirmed that the annual examinations will be conducted in March and April next year, along with several procedural changes.
According to the schedule, the Class 12 (Higher Secondary) examinations will be held from March 2 to March 26, 2026. The Class 10 (SSLC) examinations are slated from March 11 to April 4, 2026, while the Class 11 arrear examinations will take place between March 3 and March 27, 2026.
Practical examinations will begin earlier. Class 12 practical exams are scheduled from February 9 to February 14, 2026. Class 11 arrear practicals will be conducted from February 18 to February 21, followed by Class 10 practical examinations from February 23 to February 28.
A total of 8.27 lakh students are expected to appear for the Class 12 examinations, while around 9 lakh students will take the Class 10 exams. As many as 25,051 students are set to appear for the Class 11 arrear examinations.
Thousands of examination centres have been established across the State to ensure smooth conduct. Nearly 49,000 teachers will be deployed on exam duty each day, and special flying squads will be constituted to monitor centres and prevent malpractice.
The department has also introduced new measures for the 2026 board exams. These include the use of A4-size logarithmic tables for select subjects, permission to use non-programmable calculators for Accountancy, sealing of unused question papers inside examination halls, and special arrangements for differently-abled candidates. Aadhaar verification will be mandatory for private candidates.
Officials said the revised procedures are aimed at ensuring transparency, uniformity and strict monitoring during the examinations.
