The Centre of Excellence for Comprehensive Cleft and Craniofacial Care (CCCC) was inaugurated at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) by Dr. Dushyant Prasad, Executive Director of Akhila Bharatha Mahila Seva Samaja (ABMSS), in the presence of university officials and trustees. Over 100 beneficiaries and their parents attended the event.
The centre offers advanced, multidisciplinary treatment for cleft lip, cleft palate, and complex craniofacial conditions under one roof. According to Dr. Naveen Kumar, Director of the centre, more than 20,000 patients have benefited from free treatment over the past two decades, with financial support from ABMSS, Transforming Faces (Canada), City Union Bank, and other donors.
ABMSS announced that this is the first supported cleft care centre in Tamil Nadu among its 28 centres nationwide, emphasising the need for awareness and early intervention for this correctable condition, which affects 1 in 700 live births.
