Premalatha Vijayakanth, general secretary of the DMDK, said it would be positive if there was an opportunity for a coalition government and a share of power in Tamil Nadu after the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, she said that while the election is still months away, a situation where parties come together to form a joint government could benefit the people and the state. She noted that decisions on alliances and power sharing will ultimately be shaped by the outcome of the election and the voters’ mandate.
Premalatha also emphasised that she would announce the party’s stance on alliances at the right time and underlined the importance of watching how the political situation unfolds before drawing conclusions on possible coalitions.
Her remarks come amid discussions among various regional parties about election strategies and alliance options as the 2026 polls approach.
