Due to renovation works at Chennai’s Egmore railway station, suburban train services on the coastal corridor between Chennai Beach and Tambaram–Chengalpattu have been reorganised, resulting in temporary reductions and changes in train operations. As a result, commuters who normally depend on frequent suburban trains have been left with fewer rail options for the next 45 days.To address this disruption and ensure smooth travel for passengers, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has announced that additional buses will be put into service along the Kilambakkam–Tambaram route. These extra buses are being added to cope with the increased passenger demand caused by the temporary cutbacks in local train services, as commuters shift to road transport during the Egmore station redevelopment period.
The expanded bus services will help residents and daily travellers reach key transit points and connect to other parts of Chennai while rail services remain affected, with authorities monitoring and increasing capacity according to demand.
