The double-decker Chennai Metro corridor between Alapakkam and Alwarthirunagar is expected to be completed within the next four months, according to Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). The stretch will enable seamless interchanges at four stations linking Corridors 4 and 5, enhancing connectivity in the cityâs western suburbs.CMRL is also planning to extend Metro services from Chennai Trade Centre to Alandur, which would create an additional interchange between Phase I and Phase II corridors and further strengthen the network.
However, work at Butt Road station has been delayed due to pending traffic clearance approvals. Officials indicated that the proposed June opening target may be affected unless on-ground traffic management issues are resolved at the earliest.
