Chennai, Feb 23:
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has launched a new undergraduate programme — Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management and Data Science aimed at equipping students with skills in business decision-making and data-driven problem solving. The interdisciplinary programme will be offered by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) and was formally launched on campus by IIT-M Director Prof. V. Kamakoti.
Course Details
The first batch will commence in June 2026, and the last date for applications is May 31, 2026.
The programme is open to candidates who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent qualification, including diploma holders. There is no age limit and no restriction on the number of seats.
Learners can pursue the course as a standalone degree, alongside another academic programme, or even while employed. Hybrid Learning Model The BS (Management and Data Science) programme follows a hybrid format. Courses will be delivered through recorded lectures by IIT Madras faculty, allowing flexible, self-paced learning. These will be supported by live interactive tutorials, case discussions, and continuous academic assistance through online forums.
Examinations will be conducted on Sundays to facilitate working professionals and students. Depending on the course, exams may be held at designated centres across India or conducted online with remote proctoring.
Graduates will receive a Bachelor of Science degree from IIT Madras, carrying the same academic recognition as any other degree awarded by the institute.
