Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, is scheduled to begin an official visit to India on February 26, 2026, as part of a broader Indo-Pacific tour that will also take him to Australia and Japan. During his stay in India, Carney is expected to meet Narendra Modi in New Delhi after first stopping in Mumbai.
The visit will focus on strengthening bilateral ties, with discussions likely centred on enhancing trade relations, advancing negotiations for a comprehensive economic partnership, expanding cooperation in technology and artificial intelligence (AI), and exploring opportunities in defence and energy. Both sides are also expected to engage with business leaders to identify investment prospects and deepen economic engagement.
This trip marks a key diplomatic engagement aimed at boosting Canada-India relations and exploring strategic collaboration across multiple sectors, reflecting both countries’ interest in expanding economic and geopolitical partnerships in the region.
