In a fresh political exchange ahead of the upcoming elections, veteran politician Thirumavalavan has criticised film star-turned-political figure Vijay, accusing him of downplaying the influence of the AIADMK in Tamil Naduâs electoral contest.
Thirumavalavan said Vijayâs suggestion that the real competition is only between the ruling DMK and TVK overlooks the role of AIADMK and its alliance with national partners. He argued that dismissing AIADMK as insignificant amounts to disrespecting a party that has been a major force in state politics. According to him, Vijayâs remarks fail to acknowledge the realities of the electoral battleground where AIADMK remains a key contender.
He also highlighted existing tensions within AIADMKâs relationship with the BJP, noting ideological differences between the two, even as they remain allies. The criticism reflects broader debates within Tamil Naduâs opposition space, as emerging political actors seek to position themselves amidst shifting alliances and voter dynamics.
