A total lunar eclipse is taking place today, with the Moon passing completely into the Earth’s shadow and appearing in a reddish hue during the peak phase.
In view of the eclipse, several temples across the country have remained closed, following traditional customs that consider the period inauspicious for rituals. Regular poojas, darshan and other religious activities have been temporarily suspended.
Among the prominent shrines shut during the eclipse is the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, where temple authorities halted all services until the celestial event concludes. The temples are expected to reopen after completion of customary purification rituals once the eclipse ends.
