Police have arrested two individuals — one of whom is a DMK councillor — for allegedly assaulting a flight attendant during a recent flight incident. The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of an elected local representative and raises serious concerns over unruly behaviour on board aircraft.
According to officials, the incident occurred when the victims were travelling on a commercial flight. During the journey, the flight attendant approached the accused to address a routine matter. Instead of cooperating, the councillor and his associate allegedly became aggressive and physically assaulted the crew member. The assault resulted in injuries to the flight attendant, prompting immediate action by crew and later by law enforcement after the plane landed.
On receiving a complaint, airport police detained both individuals and registered a case under relevant sections of the law for assault and disruption of aviation safety. The DMK councillor was taken into custody along with his companion. Both are currently under questioning as investigations continue. Authorities have emphasised that such behaviour, especially on a passenger aircraft, is a serious offence and will be dealt with strictly under the law. Passengers who witnessed the event have supported the crew member’s account, and the airline has stated it will cooperate fully with the inquiry.
The arrest of a public representative has sparked reactions from political circles, with calls for accountability and strict enforcement of legal norms. The incident also highlights ongoing concerns about passenger conduct and safety protocols within the aviation sector. Trials and possible charges will follow as the police submit their findings to the court.
