Chief Minister and DMK chief M K Stalin has written a letter to cadres of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), urging them to gather in large numbers for the party’s conference scheduled to be held at Siruganur on March 9.
In his message, Stalin described the upcoming conference as an important political event that would prepare the party for the 2026 Assembly elections and help pave the way for forming a “Dravidian Model 2.0” government in Tamil Nadu. He said the gathering would witness a massive turnout of cadres from across the State, creating what he described as a “sea of black and red flags” in Tiruchy.
Recalling the historical significance of party meetings held in Tiruchirappalli, Stalin said the city has played a crucial role in the political journey of the DMK. He noted that it was in a Tiruchy conference that the party decided to contest elections for the first time in 1957, marking a turning point in the movement’s history.
Stalin also paid tribute to former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and C. N. Annadurai, highlighting the ideological foundations laid by the Dravidian movement. He recalled the five major slogans introduced by Karunanidhi during a Tiruchy conference in 1970, which emphasised social justice, opposition to Hindi imposition, and the principle of state autonomy within a federal structure. .
The Chief Minister also referred to the 2021 conference held at Siruganur before the Assembly elections, where he had announced the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, providing ₹1,000 per month to women heads of families. He said the scheme is currently benefiting over 1.31 crore women across the State.
Highlighting the achievements of the present government, Stalin said the “Dravidian Model” administration had achieved strong economic growth and development in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the government’s performance had enhanced Tamil Nadu’s reputation across India.
Calling upon party workers to intensify their efforts, Stalin said he looked forward to meeting cadres at the conference and urged them to unite to secure a historic victory. “Let Tiruchy roar… Let DMK win… Let the Siruganur conference create history,” he said in his concluding message.
