Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan has cautioned AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), saying the party should not face the kind of political situation experienced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Speaking at an Iftar event held in Chennai’s Egmore, Thirumavalavan said the AIADMK is a major Dravidian movement built and protected by leaders like M. G. Ramachandran (MGR) and J. Jayalalithaa. He urged EPS to safeguard the party and ensure that it does not weaken or lose its identity in the current political environment.
The VCK leader also said that AIADMK has a strong vote base and could perform well if it contests elections independently. He pointed out that the party had earlier won more than 65 Assembly seats even after the demise of Jayalalithaa, highlighting the strength of its support among voters.
Referring to developments in Bihar politics, Thirumavalavan questioned whether there was any guarantee that EPS would not face a situation similar to that of Nitish Kumar if he were to become Chief Minister again. His remarks come amid ongoing political discussions ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
