P. Wilson on Friday launched a sharp attack on outgoing Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi, accusing him of undermining constitutional principles and federalism during his tenure in the State.
In a strongly worded social media post, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP said Ravi had become a “constant reminder” of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s intentions toward Tamil Nadu.
Wilson struck a sarcastic tone while commenting on Ravi’s departure, saying he was “sad on two counts.”
“Firstly, that DMK is losing a star campaigner in the upcoming elections. RN Ravi was a constant reminder of the BJP’s intentions with Tamil Nadu,” Wilson said. The Rajya Sabha MP added that he was also concerned about the people of West Bengal and his political colleagues in the All India Trinamool Congress.
“Secondly, I am sad for the people of West Bengal and my good friends at the All India Trinamool Congress,” he wrote.
Wilson further alleged that constitutional values were at risk wherever Ravi served as Governor. “Wherever Ravi goes, the casualty is the Constitution, federal structure and parliamentary democracy,” he said. The remarks come amid continued political friction between the Tamil Nadu government led by the DMK and Governor Ravi over several administrative and legislative matters during his tenure.
