Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tiruchirappalli today to participate in government programmes and address a major public meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
According to officials, the Prime Minister will arrive in Trichy from New Delhi in the evening and travel by helicopter to Panjappur, where the events are being organised. He will first take part in a government function where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects related to petroleum, gas supply and national highways.
Among the projects to be launched are initiatives of the Indian Oil Corporation and infrastructure works of the National Highways Authority of India, including new road projects in Perambalur and Ariyalur districts.
Following the official programme, the Prime Minister will address a large NDA public rally scheduled from around 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Leaders of alliance parties, including Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Anbumani Ramadoss, T. T. V. Dhinakaran and G. K. Vasan, are expected to attend the event.
Extensive security arrangements have been put in place across the city ahead of the Prime Ministerās visit. Authorities have also imposed a temporary ban on drone operations in Trichy as part of the security measures.
