Former AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala on Tuesday met PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss at his farmhouse in Thailapuram, triggering speculation about a possible electoral understanding ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
According to sources, the two leaders held discussions for nearly an hour and explored the possibility of working together in the elections. The meeting assumes significance as political parties in the state are actively working on alliances ahead of the polls.
The development comes amid reports that Sasikala is planning to field candidates in around 40 constituencies, particularly in the Thevar-dominated belt of southern Tamil Nadu.
Sources also indicated that Ramadoss is weighing his political options in the current scenario. While the AIADMK is said to be open to accommodating him with a limited number of seats, opposition within sections of the party has complicated the situation.
The meeting was reportedly initiated by Sasikala, who recently unveiled the flag of her newly launched political outfit, signalling her active return to Tamil Nadu politics ahead of the elections.
Observers say the interaction between Sasikala and Ramadoss could potentially reshape alliance equations in the state as parties position themselves for the upcoming electoral battle.
