Senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has raised concerns over India’s foreign policy in the context of the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
In a post on social media, Chidambaram questioned whether India’s foreign policy was becoming one-sided. He referred to the recent resolution passed in the United Nations Security Council with the support of the United States and several other countries.
He asked whether India’s diplomatic approach was guided by wisdom, balanced diplomacy or a policy of neutrality. According to him, India must ensure that its foreign policy remains independent and not tilted towards any particular bloc.
Chidambaram’s remarks come at a time when tensions in West Asia have intensified due to the Iran war, raising global political and economic concerns. Analysts say the conflict has placed India in a delicate position as it maintains strategic relations with multiple countries in the region.
The statement has triggered political debate on India’s foreign policy stance amid the rapidly evolving situation in West Asia.
