Sun TV Network has approached the Madras High Court seeking to restrain Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from using songs and dialogues from the films Jailer, Jailer 2 and Coolie in the team’s promotional activities.
In a copyright petition filed before the court, Sun TV Network stated that on March 1, 2026, CSK released a promotional video unveiling its new team jersey on its official social media platforms, including Instagram, X, YouTube and Facebook.
According to the petition, the promotional video prominently featured audio tracks and dialogues from the three films at multiple points without authorisation.
Sun TV Network submitted that the video was used to promote and market CSK’s new jersey, which carries the team’s logo and the brand names of its principal sponsors. The jersey is reportedly priced at Rs 2,399, along with other merchandise sold mainly in South India, particularly in Chennai.
The company also requested the court to direct CSK to disclose the revenue generated through the promotional campaign and deposit the amount before the court pending disposal of the case.
