In a move aimed at improving postal efficiency, India Post has launched a 24-hour Speed Post delivery service in Chennai, enabling faster and more reliable delivery of letters and parcels within the city.
The new service ensures that documents and parcels are delivered within 24 hours or within the committed delivery time, offering quicker logistics support for individuals, businesses and e-commerce shipments.
Postal officials said the initiative is part of India Post’s broader efforts to modernise its services and compete with private courier companies by enhancing speed and reliability in deliveries.
Under the upgraded Speed Post system, customers will also benefit from several digital features, including real-time tracking, SMS alerts, OTP-based delivery confirmation and digital payment options. These measures are expected to improve transparency and allow customers to monitor the status of their consignments easily.
Officials noted that the new facility will strengthen logistics efficiency and speed up communication services, particularly for those sending urgent documents, business packages and important parcels within Chennai and nearby regions.
The launch of the 24-hour Speed Post delivery service is expected to significantly enhance parcel movement in the city and further strengthen the courier network of India Post.
