Chennai, Mar 23:
Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal is arriving in Chennai today to hold crucial talks on finalising the seat-sharing agreement among NDA allies for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
His visit comes shortly after Edappadi K Palaniswami, who is leading the NDA alliance in the State, held discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi regarding alliance strategy and seat allocation.
Goyal, who is the BJP’s election in-charge for Tamil Nadu, is expected to hold detailed discussions with key allies including the PMK faction led by Anbumani Ramadoss and AMMK founder TTV Dhinakaran. Talks are also likely with other partners such as the Tamil Maanila Congress.
Sources indicate that after these deliberations, the NDA is likely to finalise and sign the seat-sharing pact soon, followed by the announcement of constituencies and candidates.
The upcoming elections are expected to see a multi-cornered contest. The main players include the ruling DMK-led alliance, the AIADMK-led NDA, and new entrants like Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and Seeman’s NTK.
