Muthu Engira Kaattaan, starring Vijay Sethupathi, premieres today on Jio Hotstar.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Manikandan along with B Ajith Kumar, the series features a diverse ensemble cast including Milind Soman, Sudev Nair, Muthukumar, Singampuli, Kalaivani Bhaskar, VJ Parvathi, Risha Jacob, Vadivel Murugan, and Abi Natchathira.

Cinematography is handled by Madhu Neelakandan and Shanmugasundaram, while music is composed by Rajesh Murugesan.

Speaking at the promotional event, Jio Hotstar’s South Head Krishnan Kutty highlighted the uniqueness of the series, revealing that the story intriguingly begins with only the severed head of the protagonist being shown in the first episode — a bold narrative choice rarely attempted in Indian content.

Senior Vice President Pradeep added that the project faced financial hurdles midway, with several producers backing out after initial shooting. It was then that Vijay Sethupathi stepped in, taking on the dual role of actor and producer to ensure the project’s completion. He described the series as one of the biggest-budget Tamil web series to date.

Director B. Ajith Kumar shared that the project evolved through extensive discussions and teamwork, especially during challenging phases. He credited the entire team for their dedication and belief in the story.

Milind Soman expressed excitement about making his Tamil web series debut, praising the script’s unconventional opening and the collaborative spirit of the team.

Actresses Abi Natchathira, VJ Parvathi, and Risha Jacob spoke about their enriching experiences and the opportunities the series provided them to explore unique characters.

Vijay Sethupathi, addressing the media, reflected on the challenges faced during the making of the series. He emphasized that the project’s completion was made possible by mutual trust and belief among the team.

He acknowledged that many unconventional opportunities in his career came from others placing faith in him, even before he believed in himself. He credited this trust as a driving force behind his journey and success.
