Emotional reunion as Samson faces RR today, CSK to miss injured Brevis

Jaipur, Mar 30:

Sanju Samson is set for an emotional showdown against Rajasthan Royals as he takes the field for Chennai Super Kings in their IPL clash on Monday.

For over a decade, Samson was the face of Rajasthan, serving as their batting mainstay, captain and all-time leading run-scorer, even guiding them to the 2022 final. His switch to CSK adds a poignant layer to the contest, with the wicketkeeper-batter now carrying the responsibility as the senior-most presence in the top order.

Adding to the subplot, Ravindra Jadeja will also be up against his former franchise, further intensifying the narrative of familiar faces on opposite sides.

Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, continue to boast a strong batting unit. Youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the in-form Shimron Hetmyer provide firepower, especially in the powerplay where RR were among the most explosive sides last season.

However, their bowling remains a concern. Despite a revamp after a disappointing 2025 campaign, inconsistency in the pace attack led by Jofra Archer persists, while the spin department will rely heavily on Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi.

Chennai Super Kings have their own setback, with Dewald Brevis ruled out of the match due to a side strain, weakening their batting options.
Both teams are coming off underwhelming seasons—CSK finishing at the bottom and RR just above them in ninth—and will be eager to reset their campaigns with a strong performance.
