In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Tamil Nadu government has arranged a massive transport plan, deploying 10,663 buses to facilitate voters travelling to their hometowns. The move aims to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for people heading out to cast their votes across the state.
According to the transport department, special services will be operated on April 21, 22, and 23 to manage the surge in passenger demand. This includes 5,574 special buses in addition to regular services, particularly from Chennai, where 2,092 buses run daily.
Officials said necessary arrangements have been made to handle the increased crowd, and passengers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance. The large-scale initiative is part of efforts to boost voter turnout and ensure that citizens can reach their native places conveniently during the election period.
