Washington, Apr 29:
The White House said it is examining Iran’s latest proposal to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, amid rising tensions as Tehran asserted that the United States is no longer in a position to “dictate” policy to other nations.
Iran has maintained a blockade of the strategic waterway — a key global route for oil and gas shipments — since the start of the U.S.-Israeli offensive two months ago, triggering concern over disruptions in global energy markets.
Earlier on Tuesday, Iran reiterated that Washington’s influence is waning in the region as it considers new diplomatic proposals aimed at ending the West Asia conflict.
“The United States is no longer in a position to dictate its policy to independent nations,” Defence Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik said, according to state television, adding that Washington would eventually have to “abandon its illegal and irrational demands.”
