Actor-turned-politician Vijay has secured an early lead in the Perambur constituency as counting continues in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026, signalling a strong opening for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
At the end of the third round, Vijay had polled 5,613 votes, establishing a clear margin over the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate, who trailed with 3,348 votes. The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) candidate secured 542 votes, while the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate garnered 230 votes.
The early trend in Perambur, a key urban constituency in Chennai, points to a favourable start for Vijay in what is being closely watched as a test of TVK’s electoral strength. Initial counting patterns from other constituencies also indicate that the party is gaining traction in multiple regions.
However, election officials cautioned that these are early rounds and outcomes may shift as more votes are counted. With several rounds still pending, the focus remains on whether Vijay can sustain his lead and convert it into a decisive win.
