In a crucial political development following the 2026 Assembly election results, MLAs of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam gathered at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai, for an important consultation meeting led by party chief Vijay.
The meeting assumes significance as the party, which has emerged as the single largest force in the Assembly, begins formal steps towards forming the next government in Tamil Nadu.
Discussions focused on assessing the party’s numerical strength, possible support from independents and smaller parties, and the roadmap to stake claim before the Governor.
During the meeting, Vijay is understood to have interacted individually with several newly elected MLAs, gathering feedback from constituencies and emphasizing party unity at a time when political negotiations are intensifying.
The leadership also reviewed logistical arrangements, including coordination among legislators and strategies to prevent any poaching attempts, amid reports of heightened political activity in the state. The consultations come against the backdrop of a fractured mandate, with TVK falling short of the majority mark but still in a strong position to lead the government.
