Chennai, May 7:
To manage the surge in passenger demand during the summer holidays and the upcoming weekend rush, the Tamil Nadu Transport Department has announced the operation of a large number of special buses across key routes and cities.
From the Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, a total of 685 special buses will be operated on May 8, followed by 735 buses on May 9, connecting passengers to various destinations across the State.
At the same time, 120 special buses each day will be operated from the Koyambedu Omni Bus Stand on both May 8 and May 9, aimed at easing congestion and ensuring smoother travel flow.
Additionally, the Madhavaram Bus Terminus will handle 25 special buses on both days, further strengthening the transport network within and beyond the city.
Beyond Chennai, the department has planned 200 additional special buses from major cities such as Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode, and Coimbatore to cater to intercity travel demand.
Officials have urged passengers to make advance reservations and plan their journeys ahead of time to avoid last-minute inconvenience, as heavy crowds are expected during the peak holiday period.
