Chennai,  May 6:

In a significant gesture reflecting a conciliatory and development-focused approach, C. Joseph Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi for their greetings, while outlining his vision for governance in Tamil Nadu.

In a social media post, Vijay expressed gratitude to Modi, stating that the well-being of the people would remain the government’s sole priority. Emphasising a politics that rises above divisions, he noted that his administration would focus on the state’s progress and welfare, and expressed hope for continued support from the Union Government in achieving these objectives.

Bridging Political Divides

Vijay’s message underscored a tone of cooperation, highlighting the need to transcend political differences in favour of public interest. His remarks come at a time when Tamil Nadu’s political landscape is undergoing a transformation, with TVK emerging as a key player.

Political observers view this outreach as an attempt to establish a balanced relationship with the Centre, while maintaining autonomy in state governance.

Acknowledging the Opposition

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s message, Vijay conveyed his appreciation for the call and warm wishes. He reiterated his commitment to excellence in public service and stressed the importance of preserving Tamil Nadu’s cultural ethos through collective effort and cooperation.

A Governance-First Approach

By acknowledging leaders from both the ruling party at the Centre and the opposition, Vijay signalled a governance model rooted in inclusivity and pragmatism. His statements suggest that development and welfare will take precedence over political rivalry, a stance that could shape the administrative tone in the coming years.

Setting the Tone for Leadership

As expectations rise around TVK’s political ascent, Vijay’s remarks offer an early indication of his leadership style — one that seeks collaboration, prioritises people-centric policies, and aims to balance growth with cultural preservation.

With this outreach, Vijay has set the stage for a government that looks beyond political lines, focusing instead on delivering tangible progress for the people of Tamil Nadu.
