Vijay takes oath as MLA as TN Assembly session begins

Chennai, May 11:

The first session of the newly constituted Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly commenced today, with newly elected MLAs taking oath.

Pro-tem Speaker M. V. Karuppaiah administered the oath to the legislators, marking the formal start of the Assembly proceedings.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who won from Perambur, took oath as an MLA. Several ministers in his cabinet also assumed office as legislators, including Pussi Anand, Sengottaiyan, Adhav Arjuna (Villivakkam), and Rajmohan (Egmore).

From the opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami was sworn in as an MLA after his victory from Edappadi. Udhayanidhi Stalin also took oath as DMK Legislature Party leader, along with former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who was elected from Bodinayakanur.

The oath-taking ceremony marks a key step in the formation of the new Assembly, with the election of the Speaker expected to follow.
