Puducherry, May 11 (UNI) Puducherry Legislator A M H Nazeem, elected from Karaikal (south) constituency in the April 9 elections, was elected as the DMK Legislature Party (LP) Leader in the Territorial Assembly.
A DMK release said Nazeem was elected as LP leader at the meeting of newly elected MLAs chaired by Elction in-charge of DMK and party Propoganda Secretary S Jagathratchakan, who is also a current Lok Sabha MP, and presided by DMK State Convener R Siva Senthil Kumar was elected as the Deputy Leader and Senthil Gounder as the party whip, while Karthikeyan elected as Secretary and Vignesh Kannan as Treasurer.
Nazeem will function as the Leader of the Opposition in the Territorial Assembly.
The leader of the Opposition in the outgoing Assembly was Mr Siva, who lost the Assembly elections at Villianur. Hence, the senior most leader of the party and assembly Nazeem was elected as the LP leader.
