In a surprising move that has caught the attention of the film industry and cinema lovers alike, actor Ram Pothineni has announced his directorial debut with his 23rd film, tentatively titled RAPO23. Known for his energetic screen presence and versatility, Ram is now set to take on the dual role of actor and director for the first time in his career.
The project was officially revealed on the occasion of his birthday and is described as a stylish psychological action thriller — a genre that remains relatively unexplored in Telugu cinema.
The film will be produced by Krishna Pothineni under the newly launched banner Rapo Cinematics, marking a significant new chapter in Ram’s creative journey.
Interestingly, Ram had earlier showcased his creative range by turning lyricist and playback singer in his previous film Andhra King Taluka, earning appreciation from fans and critics. With #RAPO23, he now joins the league of actor-directors such as N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna, and Pawan Kalyan.
The makers also released a striking birthday special poster introducing Ram’s character, Veera. The poster features him from behind in a rugged leather jacket, sporting a sharp V-cut hairstyle that adds to the character’s raw and intense appeal.
A bold red “V” dominates the backdrop, symbolising both the character’s name and themes of rebellion and danger, while a shadowy cityscape hints at a dark, crime-driven narrative. The tagline, “The Story of a Lone Wolf,” suggests a psychologically complex protagonist.
The film is set to go on floors in June, with a targeted theatrical release in December this year. Further details regarding the supporting cast and technical crew are expected to be announced soon, as anticipation builds for what promises to be one of Ram Pothineni’s most ambitious ventures yet.
