Chennai, May 21:
In a fresh round of administrative reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu Home Department has appointed senior IPS officer K. Bhavaneeswari as the head of the newly constituted Singappen Special Task Force in Chennai.
Bhavaneeswari, who was serving as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, has now been posted as Inspector General of Police, Singappen Special Task Force. Her appointment comes as part of a wider transfer and posting exercise involving 15 IPS officers, with immediate effect.
In another key development, G. Venkataraman, Director General of Police (DGP), Administration and former in-charge head of the police force, has been appointed as DGP, Civil Supplies CID, Chennai. The move also upgrades the post in the unit from Additional Director General of Police to Director General rank.
Praveen Kumar Abhinapu has been posted as Inspector General of Police, North Zone, Chennai, while A. Saravana Sundar will serve as Inspector General of Police, Crime, Chennai.
Among other senior-level changes, J. Mahesh has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Vellore Range. Dr. P. Vijaya Kumar has been posted as DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, South Zone, Greater Chennai Police. Abhishek Gupta will take charge as Superintendent of Police (SP), Thoothukudi district.
At the district level, I. Shahnaz has been posted as SP, Kallakurichi; S. Aravind as SP, Kancheepuram; Allatipalli Pavan Kumar Reddy as SP, Coimbatore; and K. Karthikeyan as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Tambaram. S. Brinda has been appointed as SP, The Nilgiris.
The reshuffle also includes promotions for two officers to the rank of Superintendent of Police. V. Satish Kumar, formerly Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Tiruvannamalai Town Sub-Division, has been promoted and posted as SP, Tiruvarur district. Ravindra Kumar Gupta, previously ASP, Villupuram Sub-Division, has been elevated as SP, Pudukkottai district.
The latest reshuffle is aimed at strengthening policing and administrative efficiency across key units and districts in the state.
