Chennai, May 29:
Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday dismissed the growing social media buzz around the so-called “Cockroach Janata Party,” asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would “use Hit to eliminate the cockroaches.”
Speaking to reporters in Tiruvannamalai, Tamilisai alleged that opposition parties were behind the online campaign, claiming it was being projected under the guise of youth sentiment. “The Prime Minister who faced even the COVID pandemic will also face the cockroach challenge. Opposition parties are behind this conspiracy. I do not believe it reflects the views of genuine youth,” she said.
Defending the Centre’s employment record, she stated that the Modi government had created large-scale opportunities through job fairs and startup initiatives. She added that more than 23 lakh startups had been promoted, providing employment opportunities to lakhs of youth across the country.
The remarks come amid increasing attention around the “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP), a satirical online movement reportedly launched by Abhijit Deepke, a former member of the Aam Aadmi Party social media wing. The campaign gained traction after comments by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant comparing unemployed youth to cockroaches sparked criticism online.
While the CJP’s account on X has reportedly been blocked following directions from the Centre, its Instagram page has amassed over 22 million followers, surpassing the follower count of the Bharatiya Janata Party on the platform. Organisers are also said to be exploring options to register the outfit with the Election Commission of India.
