Tiruchendur, May 30:.
A massive spiritual gathering was witnessed at the famous Tiruchendur Murugan Temple as lakhs of devotees thronged the shrine to celebrate the auspicious festival of Vaikasi Visakam.
The festival, which marks the birth star of Lord Murugan, drew devotees from across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states, turning the coastal town into a sea of faith. From the early hours of the day, long queues were seen as devotees waited patiently to have darshan of the deity. Temple doors were opened in the early morning, and special pooja and rituals were performed throughout the day.
Devotional fervour was at its peak as thousands carried kavadi, offered milk pots, and fulfilled vows. Special abhishekams and deeparadhana were conducted, while chants of “Arohara” echoed across the temple premises. The festival holds deep spiritual significance, as devotees believe that worship on this day brings blessings, removes obstacles, and ensures prosperity.
One of the major highlights of the celebration was the holy dip in the sea near the temple. Devotees believe that taking a dip on this auspicious occasion purifies the soul and washes away sins. The seashore and surrounding areas were packed with pilgrims participating in rituals and prayers.
Given the huge influx of devotees, extensive arrangements were made by authorities. Special trains and transport facilities were operated to manage the crowd, while police, medical teams, and volunteers were deployed to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the festival.
The Vaikasi Visakam celebrations once again showcased the deep-rooted devotion towards Lord Murugan, with Tiruchendur emerging as one of the most vibrant spiritual centres in Tamil Nadu during the festival period.
