Chennai, June 3:
Sixteen-year-old Nisha Sasikumar has achieved the remarkable feat of scaling Mount Everest, becoming one of the youngest girls to conquer the world’s highest peak.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai on Sunday, Nisha and her father Sasikumar said the climb is part of their larger mission to summit the highest peaks across all seven continents. Nisha reached the Everest summit on May 25, completing the climb in just 80 days — a feat that also makes her the first Indian to achieve it in such a short span.
The young mountaineer has already scaled several prominent peaks, including Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Russia, Kosciuszko in Australia, Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia, and Aconcagua in Argentina.
To prepare for Everest, Nisha underwent nearly a year of rigorous training, climbing hills around Bengaluru and Mysuru, while balancing her school education with weekend training expeditions.
